Hi, I’m Akira
Meet Akira!!!
Akira is a beautiful female Indian Ringneck Parrot who is looking for an experienced home where her needs and boundaries will be respected.
Akira is very hand‑shy, and she is not suited to hands‑on handling or a busy household. She would thrive best as an aviary bird, ideally housed with other compatible birds, where she can observe, interact on her own terms, and enjoy companionship without pressure.
She requires a calm, quiet environment with patient carers who understand that trust may take a long time-if it develops at all. Because of her nature and the species' traits, prior Indian Ringneck or similar parrot experience is highly preferred.
*Care & Diet*
Has only ever eaten pellets and should remain on a pellet‑based diet
Absolutely loves fruit and vegetables as enrichment and dietary variety
Enjoys a wide range of toys and enrichment, which are essential for her wellbeing
*Behaviour Notes*
Very hand‑shy - not a cuddly or interactive bird
Best suited to observational companionship rather than physical interaction
Indian Ringnecks are a naturally noisy species, and Akira is no exception
*Housing Requirements*
Akira needs a secure, spacious aviary or cage setup with plenty of enrichment, room to move, and visual barriers if needed to help her feel safe.
Potential adopters must provide photos of their cage or aviary setup as part of the adoption process.
Please note:
- A property check may be required before ADOPTION to ensure the safety and welfare of adoption animals. Rental agreements allowing pets will be required for adoptions into rental properties. Differential pricing may apply.
- The website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that by the time you have completed the Apply to Adopt form the animal you have an interest in might have been adopted by another party.
- While our shelters are open, not every pet available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. To express your interest, Apply to Adopt online and if it's a perfect match you will be shortlisted and contacted via phone by our Adoption Team to discuss the animal in detail.
